The Fifth Meeting of the Friend`s Club
On May 18th 2012 in the Russian museum of Ethnography the 5th Meeting of the Friends Club took place. This meeting proofed again that citizens and guests of St-Petersburg are not indifferent to museum life.
This meeting was timed to the opening of the new permanent exhibition "Peoples of the South Caucasus". The work on this exposition lasted for five years. During this time the new museum project on the Caucasus was worked out.
On that day the guests of the museum had a chance to see the collection of the South Caucasus for the first time since the old exposition was dismantled.
The opening ceremony was accompanied by the performance of the children's folk group, modern jazz remixes of the folk rhythms of the South Caucasus.
We much appreciate the help of Armenian and Georgian diasporas, Mr. A. Gnedovskiyi and Mr. Y. Feodorov in acquisition of valuable exhibits for our collections on South Caucasus, and who showed a great interest to the life of our museum. We express our gratitude to Mr. S. Sardarov for inestimable help in the organization of the expedition to Mountain Altai and Kyrgyzsatn and issuing albums on the material of this field work. And thank you all, who took part in our meeting, and for your participating, kind words and smiles.
