Vilnius. The exhibition "Ancient Lithuania" dedicated to 1000th anniversary of the first mention of Lithuania in the European historical records.
The exhibition is prepared by the Russian Museum of Ethnography in collaboration with the National Museum of Lithuania within the terms of mutual exhibition and editorial project "The Ancient Lithuania". Its realization became possible due to its inclusion into the state program of jubilee events of the Republic of Lithuania.
The main goal of the project is to represent the collection of the RME on Lithuanian traditional culture to the general auditory of two neighboring countries. Ethnographic Lithuanian collection stored in one of the largest ethnological museums in the world, includes about 3000 artifacts, more than 3000 photographs and photographic negatives, illustrative and cartographic materials, as well as the archives of renowned ethnographers and collectors.
