Our garments are the best
The exhibition under the title "Our garments are the best" familiarizes the visitors with the traditional costume of some villages of the Skopskiy and Miloslavskiy regions of Ryazanskaya oblast from the end of the 19th century to the present. Under the generality of costume details which characterizes this region, the costume of each of the villages has its own peculiarities.
The special aim of this exhibition is to acquaint visitors with the example of the traditional clothes. Some of the costumes which are shown were made in the beginning of the 20th century or in 1920s-1930s, later in 1950s-1960s such kind of dresses were renewed by modern fabrics, bands and laces. Moreover, in some villages of this region in 1960-s-1980s the process of making costumes whose elements had a traditional cut was actively recommenced. Women made clothes for their marriageable daughters, because they wished to see them in traditional bride dresses.
At present, in the 21st century in a number of villages of the Skopskiy and Miloslavskiy regions many old women are still wearing poneva, shirts, aprons and headgear of a traditional cut both on weekdays and feast. Some of them have costumes set prepared "for death" made of homemade fabric to overclothes made of white cloth.
Making a costume-doll whose garments in details conform to the traditional costume set of each village is personification of the love to native costume. As a rule those dolls are not for children games, but they are displayed in places of honour, and perform the function of a decoration of a house.
28 set of costumes of different age group are displayed: for maids, young ladies and old women. Among them there are wedding, mourning and funeral garments. Visitors also will be able to see 2 dolls in complete costume from 2 villages in Rayzan and some separate clothes details including those that can't be seen. The displayed costumes and separate details are provided with minute descriptions. Exposition is supplemented with photos of 1940s and 2008s.
