This exhibition presents facsimiles of the rare photographs from the unique collection of the First All-Russian Ethnographical exhibition in Moscow in 1867 and also photographers, and collectors of the Dashkovskiyi museum of Ethnography and Ethnographical department of the Russian museum in the beginning of the XXth century. Now all these photographs are kept in The Russian museum of Ethnography. Visitors are able to see positive photos, photo-post cards from the photo studio of Riga "Gebensperherr & K?" and from the press of Emmanuel von Eggert, collector V.I. Sizov, connoisseur and popularizer of the Lettish traditional art, painter and museum correspondent Richard Sarinsch and also photographer who worked in the Russian North Jacob Leizinherr and collector from St-Petersburg A.N. Pavlovich.
The Exhibition was first shown in Riga in 2008. We considered it important to show its new version in Russia too. We hope that such an unusual way of comparison of two people's way of life will make it possible for visitors of the XXIst century to open something new and in keeping with today.
