Characteristics of the region
Siberia is a vast geographical area extending from the Urals in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east and which is charecterized by the severe climate and the variety of the natural landscapes: from dry steppes in the south to arctic deserts in the north. From ancient times as a result of adaptation to the extreme natural conditions the original ethnolingual communities and separate cultural and economical types of native population had been forming.
