Characteristic of the region
The European part of Russia is a historical and geographical area inhabited by different ethnoses. The East European Plain occupies the largest part of the territory, which has a severe climate conditions, meridional directionality of large streams and latitudinal location of natural zones.
At present, three related peoples are the most numerous on the European part of Russia. These peoples are very similar in language and in culture; in language they belong to the East Slavic subdialect of Slavic group…….

Historically, the Bashkirs resided in the frontier between Europe and Asia and on the border of two cultures, one nomadic and one agricultural. This fact is reflected in the complex and brilliant culture of this people- in their substitence strategy, in their shelter, their way of life, and even in their national name "bashkort".
